Press release A level results Wilmington Grammars August 18th 2022

We are delighted that so many students have achieved the results they hoped for. This cohort continually demonstrated resilience, initiative and ambition in preparing for these exams, despite the disruption of the last two years. As a result, and against the national picture, results were in line with the teacher assessed grades from 2020 and 2021. 62% of all grades were at A*- B. This is remarkable given the stricter grade profile this year and our congratulations go to our students, staff and their families.

In total, 22 students achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades and are now celebrating before they head off to begin university courses or apprenticeships. Of these, students who joined in Year 12 and those who had been with us for their entire secondary career were successful, underlining the inclusive and welcoming nature of our shared 6th form. Among the top performers were:

Elizabeth Akinnitire with Business ( A*), English (A*),  Sociology (A) and  EPQ (A) who is off to Durham to study Law. Jasmine Booker got A grades in Biology, Geography and Chemistry and is off to Exeter to study Environmental Science commented “I’m over the moon!  And am really looking forward to my next steps”.  Beatrice Manicardi Settle is going to the London School of Economics to read Management following A* grades in Economics, Maths and Psychology.  Beatrice said “The support offered by WG6 staff has been invaluable in keeping me focussed and committed during a very tough two years and I am proud to say that I will be studying Management at the London School of Economics”

Theo Stewart Griffiths achieved an incredible A* in four subjects: Computer Science, Maths, Further Maths and Physics and is going to study Computer Science.  Matthew Weekes who achieved A* in Computing, Further Maths and Maths and an A grade in Physics will be studying Computer Science at Warwick. Theo added “not too bad at all!! I can’t wait to join Uni!” Noah Smith achieved top  grades in Economics, Geography and PE and will study International Relations at the University of Exeter and Heet Mehta will study Biomedical Science at St George’s Hospital in London with A grades in Maths, Biology, and Chemistry as well as an AS in Further Maths – Heet (pictured) commented “Well, time to go one step forward… To university! Thanks to all my teachers here at WG6 for helping me achieve my dream and also to my parents who never stopped believing in me.”  Noah added “I am absolutely delighted with my results. Being in an exam hall waiting to turn over the paper, having missed out on that experience with my GCSEs, was daunting but I am really pleased that all my hard work, alongside the constant help and support from my teachers, has paid off. I have loved being part of Wilmington over the past 7 years.”

Georgios Zoumides is off to Nottingham to study Economics. As well as achieving A* in Economics and Maths and an A in Business studies he also established the Economics Society at the school.  Georgios commented “thank you Wilmington Grammar!  All the staff and teachers have been so supportive”

The 6th form at Stone Lodge opens in September and will extend further the range of choices available at Endeavour MAT schools.
